Guaranteed 2 Year Hall Stay For New Students

NTUSU was made aware of the confusion among NTU students regarding the clarity of on-campus housing guarantee for the initial two years of their study. The confusion arose due to a change in the wording of the Hall Allocation Scheme, which was revised to state "high-priority for Year 2 students."

Actions Taken

Recognizing the importance of providing clarity and assurance to incoming students, NTUSU took prompt action and advocated strongly for reverting the wording to its original form. Our objective was to ensure that the Hall Allocation Scheme explicitly states, "new students are guaranteed hall accommodation for the first two years of study." - driven by the understanding that the change in wording had led to considerable confusion among students, impacting their housing plans.

On 24th February 2023, the Hall Allocation Scheme was revised to contain the revised language, accurately reflecting the guaranteed hall accommodation for new students during their first two years of study. Additionally, we ensured that public web pages and information meant for prospective students were promptly updated to reflect this change.
