Sahoor Meals Delivery Launched to Support Muslim Hall Residents!

Supporting Our Muslim Peers During Ramadan – The Sahoor Meal Initiative

Ever tried finding a fresh, filling meal at 4:30 a.m.? For many Muslim students living on campus during Ramadan, that’s a daily challenge. Sahoor, the pre-dawn meal before fasting, often means having to settle for snacks or instant food due to limited dining options at that hour.

Recognising this, NTUSU partnered with NTU Muslim Society (NTUMS) to launch the Sahoor Meal Initiative, ensuring that our Muslim friends could start their day of fasting with wholesome, affordable meals delivered right to their halls.

The idea sparked after feedback from students and on-the-ground observations showed the lack of accessible food options before dawn. Many were waking up early only to find few nutritious choices, which could affect their wellbeing and energy for classes. NTUSU stepped in to advocate for a practical, student-focused solution.

Throughout the holy month, pre-packed meals were delivered to participating hall residents at 4:30 a.m. on school days. NTUSU subsidised delivery costs and provided complimentary drinks, making each meal both affordable and satisfying. On average, around 60 students benefited daily, creating a shared sense of care and community during this important time. Coordinating early-morning deliveries across campus was no small feat. Working closely with vendors, hall offices and NTUMS, the team navigated logistical obstacles to that food was delivered promptly.
