CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Christian Fellowship
Written by: Sharwyn Joycee Lee, Portfolio Representative
"Home is not where you live but where they understand you."
For many of us in NTU Christian Fellowship (NTU-CF), this statement hits home. Whether it’s being connected with fellow Christians on campus, or in other student ministries in Singapore and even around the world, or simply being able to explore the word of God in our home languages, NTU-CF is a place which ensures that you can understand, while being understood.
NTU Christian Fellowship (NTU-CF) is a student ministry operating within NTU and we aspire to be effective salt and light of the world on campus and later on in society upon graduation. We are affiliated to Fellowship of Evangelical Students (FES) Singapore, and FES is in turn affiliated to the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES), which consists of an international movement of student ministries with a presence in over 160 countries.
With three language sections, the English CF (ECF), Chinese CF (CCF) and Indonesian Students’ CF (ISCF), we cater to the unique needs of each student community, while spreading the love of Christ on campus as One CF.
You may ask – what exactly will I be doing at NTU-CF?
A simple answer would be to see the three Fs - Fellowship, Fun and Food are staples of CF activities, held once or twice a week depending on the language section.
Fellowship - this is where we look to deepen the faith and strengthen the spiritual foundation of our members - these include bible study sessions, talks on topics specifically tailored for students on campus like us, small group sessions, and more, equipping us to indeed be Salt and Light on campus, and later on in society upon graduation.
In addition to this, we also have events with other CFs affiliated to FES, such as the biennial Study the Word Altogether (SWAT) camp for ECF, Bible Camp for CCF (研经营), ISCF’s themed camp, and the East Asia Regional Conference (EARC), where students from CFs all over East Asia come together.
Fun - alongside cultivating a strong spiritual foundation in our members, NTU-CF also believes in building a closely-knit community, through our series of recreational bonding events. Whether it’s through our community engagement events, or even our combined sections sports event, these are planned to help CFers build memories that will last a long time, especially in university life.
Outside of our regular sessions, we are friends! We often meet up over a meal – especially with most of us staying on campus, go out during the holidays, and even travel overseas together!
Food – a shared love across all three sections – has brought us together in meaningful ways. We've held sessions where we gather over meals, creating a warm and welcoming space to share not just food, but also our faith journeys. These moments have allowed us to reflect on discipleship in Christ, learning and growing together through personal stories and honest conversations.
Personally, NTU-CF has profoundly impacted my life on campus — I can’t imagine what my time in NTU would have been like without it. Through NTU-CF, I’ve forged deep friendships not only within ECF, but also with members from the other two sections and CFers across other campuses, including university and polytechnic CFs! NTU-CF has given me a platform to connect with like-minded Christians who are navigating the same stage of life — studying, stressing about jobs, and even experiencing the quarter-life crisis — while serving in a capacity I am truly passionate for.
One of NTU-CF’s six distinctives is “Student-led, Student-initiated,” which I’ve come to deeply appreciate. It places the responsibility on us to understand our campus context and creatively design programmes that serve our community’s unique needs.
Beyond this, my time in NTU-CF has been a season of immense growth. I’ve developed a greater love and appreciation for God’s Word as we study it together, and the resources provided by FES have significantly contributed to my spiritual journey on campus. I’ve also gained invaluable knowledge and wisdom in Christian leadership through our affiliation with FES, and I hope to see more Christians on campus experience this same growth and transformation!
