Our Purpose: Diving into the Best of Both Worlds

NTU Aquathlon was founded to bring together students who are passionate about both swimming and running — or simply looking for a fun, challenging way to stay active. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, our club welcomes everyone, regardless of fitness background.

We aim to make aquathlon accessible and enjoyable while helping our members grow stronger, faster, and more confident. From mastering the basics of open water swimming and endurance training to participating in exciting races like SUniG and Metasprint, there's something here for everyone.Whether you're aiming to compete or just want to de-stress after classes with a supportive team, you’ll find your stride at NTU Aquathlon.

SWIM

Our swim sessions take place every Monday and Wednesday evening, providing a consistent space for members to improve their technique, endurance, and confidence in the water. Each session begins with a dynamic warm-up and light physical training (PT) to activate the body and prevent injury.

After warming up, we dive into structured sets designed by our experienced coach, tailored to suit various fitness and skill levels. Whether you're training for races or just looking to get in a good workout, our sessions focus on building speed, stamina, and efficiency in the water.

Swimming alongside friendly, like-minded teammates always makes every lap more enjoyable.

No matter your starting point, we’re here to help you improve — one stroke at a time.

RUN

Our Thursday evening track sessions focus on interval training — short bursts of high-intensity running followed by recovery periods. These sessions are designed to improve speed, endurance, and race pacing, making them a key part of aquathlon training.

Sessions are structured such that the sets to challenge you at your own level. Interval training also helps build mental toughness and cardiovascular strength, both essential for race day performance.

Held on Saturday mornings at Sentosa, our BRICKS sessions are all about practicing open water swimming and smooth transitions into running — a crucial skill set for aquathlon races.

These sessions simulate real race conditions, helping members get comfortable with sighting, swimming in currents, and managing the swim-to-run transition. It’s where you’ll learn how to kick off your shoes and dive in — then come out running strong.

Training in an open water environment builds confidence and prepares you mentally and physically for race day. Plus, there’s nothing quite like the sunrise, the sea breeze, and pushing your limits with a solid team beside you.

The Singapore University Games (SUniG) Aquathlon is an annual competition where university students in Singapore compete in a race that combines swimming and running. In the most recent SUniG Aquathlon, the NTU men's team achieved a dominant victory, securing the top four individual spots and the team gold for the fifth consecutive year. The NTU women's team also performed well, earning a bronze medal.

We also take part in local races, such as SMU SwimRunSprint, MetaSprint Series and TriFactor RunSwim, during the off-season to stay sharp and motivated while keeping the competitive spirit alive and garner more race experience.

Wondering if we get to travel overseas as a team? No doubt we do! We also take part in the annual 113 Putrajaya Series; these trips give members the chance to compete internationally, experience new race environments, and bond with the team beyond local shores.

It’s a rewarding mix of competition, travel, and unforgettable memories — a true highlight of the aquathlon journey.
