CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Golf

Written by: Esther How, Honorary General Secretary

NTU’s recreational Golf Club offers a relaxed avenue for students to explore the game of golf. Whether it is your first time holding a club, or if you are trying to lower your handicap, this club gives you a chance to practice in a low-pressure environment amongst fellow golfers in the NTU community. If you are looking for something active but not too intense, this will be a great fit for you!

NTU Golf welcomes everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned golfers. Most members come down once or twice a week to hit a few balls and socialize with like-minded students. Ultimately, we hope to promote golf to the NTU student body by making the sport more accessible and less intimidating.

We hold weekly range sessions at Warren Country Club. These are casual evenings where we meet at the driving range to get some fresh air and hit a few balls. Some members take the opportunity to refine their skills, while others take the time to interact with others interested in the sport. Our sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; members can choose the session that suits them best. We provide balls and clubs for both men and women, but members are more than welcome to bring their own clubs to use too.

Beyond that, we organize enjoyable outings where members can experience golfing outside of the range. In the previous academic year, NTU Golf members had the chance to play at the 5Iron Simulator and at UltraGolf. Additionally, playing on an actual course is rare in Singapore where access is limited and expensive. Through the club, members get the chance to play on the greens in a more affordable way. Whether it’s a 6-hole round or a 9-hole scramble, the club arranges these opportunities for members to share the experience with each other in a more casual environment.

NTU Golf also provides members with options for beginner-friendly coaching. Regardless of experience level, a professional coach will provide detailed guidance and help to identify and correct specific mistakes. Within small groups, members will learn the necessary skills and theory needed to prepare them for playing on the greens.

Many people assume that golf is too technical, expensive or reserved for a certain crowd. As a recreational club, we try to break down these assumptions by showing that the sport can be casual, inclusive, and an enjoyable way to unwind.

Whether you are looking to pick up a new hobby or to meet other golfers within the NTU community, this club will be a great place to start. Do check out our Instagram page for more information about what we do and be sure to pop by our booth during Welcome Week. We hope to see you at the range!
