CCAs of NTU 25’: WSC SC Internal Relations (IR)
Written by: Wei Hao, Portfolio Representative
Representing the “W” in Welfare Services Club, Supporting Committee Internal Relations (IR) plays a key role in weaving WSC together and strengthening unity by fostering social cohesion among members across all 19 portfolios through bonding activities, community engagement, and welfare programmes.
To support our objectives, the portfolio is structured into 4 subcommittees: Events, Logistics, Business Liaison, and Publicity & Publications. Mass meetings are held bi-weekly on Wednesdays to share announcements and for members to engage in bonding activities.
Curious about what we’ve got planned? Here’s a round-up of all our events for the upcoming academic year!
Volunteer Orientation Programme (VOP)
VOP marks IR’s first event to welcome both newcomers and returning members into the portfolio for the academic year. VOP seeks to bond IR members together and allow them to familiarise themselves with their peers whom they will be working with for the academic year. It is also an opportunity for IR members to forge friendships and partnerships during the event.
Community Service Day
Community Service Day is a semi-annual service learning event that aims to inculcate a spirit of volunteerism and raise awareness of various social causes among IR members. To broaden participants' exposure, IR collaborates with a range of organisations and institutions focused on serving different beneficiaries. Past collaborations involve M.A.D For Recycling, Orange Valley, Willing Hearts, Boon Lay Youth Network, and Silver Homes.
WSC Bonding Day
WSC Bonding Day is a themed two-day camp that provides a platform for WSC members to connect and engage with peers from other portfolios. Through this event, IR aims to help members familiarise themselves with those they have worked with, and will continue to work with, in serving NTU and the wider community. It also offers all WSC members a chance to build new friendships and form meaningful collaborations.
Mid-Year Bonding
Mid-Year Bonding is an overnight chalet bonding event held exclusively for IR members to strengthen their connections with one another and take a break from their academic commitments. Through activities like a BBQ session, card games, and casual conversations, it provides an opportunity for members to unwind and spend quality time together.
WSC Bienestar: Exam Welfare Initiative
WSC Bienestar is an annual exam welfare initiative organised by IR in collaboration with Admin & Liaison (A&L) to give back to WSC volunteers. Through the distribution of complimentary items such as food, vouchers, and daily essentials, the event supports volunteers during the stressful examination period. It also serves as a gesture of gratitude for their dedication and contributions during the academic year.
IR Farewell
IR Farewell, the final internal event of the year, brings IR members together to celebrate and reflect on their contributions over the past academic year. Through meaningful bonding activities such as card exchanges and a video montage screening over snacks, the event fosters a strong sense of gratitude and camaraderie within the portfolio.
WSC Annual Appreciation Dinner
WSC Annual Appreciation Dinner, IR’s final and largest WSC-wide event, aims to bring together all 19 portfolios to wrap up the academic year as a united community. Comprising a buffet dinner, fringe activities, musical performances, attractive lucky draw prizes, and a photobooth, the event features the support of various sponsors and the participation of over 200 WSC volunteers, serving as a heartfelt celebration to honour their dedication and positive impact on the lives of their service users.
