CCAs of NTU 25’: Earthlink NTU
Written by: Dustie Tang, 32nd President of Earthlink
At NTU, Earthlink isn’t just another student club, it’s a movement. We are a growing community of changemakers, innovators, and action takers united by one mission: to promote sustainable living across campus and beyond. Whether you're passionate about nature, curious about sustainability, or just looking to make new friends who care, Earthlink NTU is where your journey begins. Ready to be part of something bigger?
Who are We?
Earthlink has been around since 1993, championing environmental causes on campus. We organise events, campaigns, and workshops to make sustainability fun and relevant for students. With 14 portfolios under four pillars (Campus, Nature, Outreach, and Operations), there’s something for everyone. Some of us are drawn to hands-on work like gardening or nature guiding; others enjoy planning events, running outreach booths, or working behind the scenes with logistics and partnerships.
What brings us together is a shared belief: that this campus, and this world, can be better—and we want to be part of that change.
Sustainability Starts at Home

Some of our most impactful work starts right on campus. Every year, we run the Clothes Donation Drive, BYOC campaigns, and other sustainability workshops that encourage practical habits, like sewing your very own pouch from upcycled fabric. We even manage our own little food garden, where we use composted canteen waste to grow vegetables. Earthlink’s work is not grand, but it’s honest work that reminds us that sustainability is more than just a slogan.
Our Green Peas portfolio focuses on plant-based diets. Through collaborations with canteens and events like the Vegan Festival, we help make plant-based options more accessible (and more delicious) to our NTU community. It's all about showing that you don't need to be an expert to start living more consciously.
Bringing Nature Back into Focus
Tree-planting @ NIE
Our Nature Guiding (NG) portfolio focuses on reconnecting people with the natural world through education. We conduct guided walks not just within NTU, but also at nature parks and reserves across Singapore. From native trees and medicinal plants to birdsong and butterfly behaviour, NG helps participants understand the ecosystems we’re part of—and why they matter. It’s not just about spotting wildlife; it’s about learning to appreciate the stories and science behind the flora and fauna we often overlook.
To support respectful human-animal interactions, our Human-Wildlife Coexistence portfolio runs roadshows and publishes resources like the NTU Wildlife Etiquette Handbook. If you’re feeling tree-mendously inspired, our NTreeU team leads student-led planting sessions to make NTU greener, cooler, and more vibrant one tree at a time. These efforts all culminate in NTU Biodiversity Week, a week-long celebration packed with exhibitions, walks, and workshops that spark appreciation for the biodiversity around us.
Outreach That Matters

Outreach is at the heart of Earthlink. Whether we’re dimming the lights for Earth Hour Festival or getting our hands sandy in beach cleanups, we believe sustainability begins with meaningful connection. Our teams bring green action to communities through roadshows, tours, and workshops. We work with schools, community centers, and local groups to spread awareness from Toa Payoh to the mangroves, showing that sustainability is something everyone can join.
Behind the scenes, we build bridges with professionals, partners, and future changemakers. Through initiatives like the Sustainable Finance Case Competition and the Green Career Fair, we connect students with industries that care about the planet. Our External Liaison team secures sponsors and keeps Earthlink plugged into a wider network of environmental groups and ESG-focused companies. Through these efforts, our outreach goes beyond awareness, it builds lasting relationships and inspires action across communities.
If I change, the World Changes!
Joining Earthlink doesn’t mean you need to be an expert. Most of us started with curiosity, not credentials. What matters is the willingness to care and the courage to try. Membership is free with no commitment, and subcommittee roles offer real opportunities to grow, lead, and learn.
At the end of the day, Earthlink is about people. It’s the friends who stay late to pack up, the quiet pride in a sprouting seedling, and the belief that change, however small, starts with us. If any of this resonates with you, come be a part of it. We’d love to grow alongside you.
