CCAs of NTU 25’: NTU Muslim Society

Written by: Ahmad Amsyar Bin Mohd Adom, 38th NTUMS President

Actions are but by intentions, and each person will have that which he or she intended.

Assalamualaikum wr wb. May peace be upon you! Welcome to NTU Muslim Society.

Your involvement in NTUMS, whether it be as a planner for humanitarian efforts, an organiser of knowledge-based gatherings, a publicity member involved in design and photography or any of the vast and various roles in NTUMS, will be as vibrant as you make it. Every Muslim in NTU is a part of NTUMS, which primarily aims to foster and serve the Muslim community.

NTUMS is admittedly a huge CCA with a deep culture to delve into; fret not, many friendly seniors and a community that seeks to spread peace is here to welcome you. It is a place for you to not only develop yourself, in matters of the deen or even in technical and soft skills, which you can bring into the professional world.

What will you do day-to-day?

Active involvement can be in the capacity of the many roles available, ranging from one-time event attendees to regular weekly meetings. Our Adhocs and Subcommittees are avenues for people of common interests to get together and work towards a common goal, for the pleasure of Allah s.w.t. With your teams and departments, your efforts will add up to become greater than the sum of its parts to gain and give benefit to communities, Muslims & Non-Muslims alike, as well as in and outside or NTU.

Our subcommittees are committed to being present for the society for the whole academic year. Just to name a few things: our main Instagram page @myntums and promotional material is carefully curated by the Marketing team, the Training and Development division provides platforms for Islamic fundamentals, and our Community Outreach team is always thinking up ways to engage with those outside of NTUMS, whether it be through events or thought-provoking discussions. Assets takes care of our many prayer rooms while Welfare takes care of our, well, welfare!

Things to look forward to

We have many signature events that happen regularly if not annually. Ramadan is of course the most happening period for Muslims everywhere. You can look forward to the annual big-scaled Iftar event, as well as other initiatives that our community may come up with - or even take part in contributing to those initiatives yourselves.

In recent years, you may have seen our Adhocs host activities related to their missions: Yusra dedicated to serving beneficiaries, Alterisk aimed at uplifting at-risk children, Pulse with the purpose of keeping fit in accordance to sunnah, Light of S.A.W fostering the love of our Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, IAP raising awareness of Islam among Non-Muslims and rediscovering Muslims and many more. Special bonus: when opportunity comes, take the chance to be a part of external events.

NTU Muslim Society is really more than what a block of text can convey. Stalk our Instagram @myntums to find out about our wide array of Adhocs, have a look at your seniors’ experiences and see what they have to say! See what has been possible and imagine what you can make possible for yourself as well as for the community.

Jazakallah khairan and warmest regards,
